Allow me to introduce myself...

My name is Stephanie.

I've always thought I should be the star of my own reality show. That's actually true.

I blame my mother for this. When a was a child, she'd take me downtown on shopping trips. While walking the streets of Michigan Ave, she would suggest that a big-time Hollywood producer would discover me... ME! Me with the scraggly red hair and Tweety Bird shirt- I have pictures to prove this look...

Regardless, from that point on, I always thought I would be an actress. I took voice lessons, Piano lessons, auditioned for every school play (I was cast as the dog in Annie as a 14-year-old) etc. As a senior in High School I auditioned for Depaul's Theatre School- and got in!

It wasn't until my dad said, "I will not pay for 4 years of theatre school so you can wait tables," that I decided to reconsider my career path. If I couldn't grace the screen through acting, I would grace the screen through news reporting! I went to college in pursuit of a Broadcast Journalism degree... I had a sure fire plan to be the next Meredith Viera. After four years of intensive journalism training and three unpaid internships at Chicago affiliates I was waiting tables... hey Dad... Joke's on you.

After all of that hard work...all I got was this stupid resume tape.

So while I've always known in my heart of hearts that my true home is on TV, the news director at my first TV job thought differently. So I ask you... what is the next best thing to reporting? We'll I'd have to say blogging.

Which brings me to my next point: People have always told me I should write a blog.

I've dabbled a bit- a travel blog here, a cooking stint there- I even decided to do nail salon reviews... and let me tell you how that didn't work out. The fact of the matter is, the blogosphere is inundated with travel, cooking and beauty blogs- and to be perfectly honest... half of them aren't even worth reading! No offense...

I want Steps for Success to be different. Through this blog, I'll suggest ways to succeed in life at the expense of other people's mishaps. Basically a "here's a perfect example of what you shouldn't do" daily guide. You may be offended, you may be outraged, you may consider never reading this again. On the contrary, you may laugh... and you may laugh hard. This is a place to relax and have a laugh... so sit back, relax and enjoy.
